BlackWallet Hacked, Over $400 000 Stolen.
January 16, 2018
DNS-server of BlackWallet, a web-wallet for Stellar Lumens cryptocurrency, was hacked on January 14, as the service representatives reported with cyber security expert Kevin Beaumont among them.
«The DNS hijack of Blackwallet injected code, if you had over 20 Lumens it pushes them to a different wallet», Beaumont wrote in Twitter.
According to the BlackWallet experts’ statement posted in r/Stellar-thread at Reddit, it happened due to unauthorized access to the hosting provider account.
At the moment the intruders are reported to possess up to 670 000 XLM, which currently equals to $400 000. The hackers’ address has been tracked, and, as it turned out soon, the stolen funds were transferred onto the Bittrex exchange.
The BlackWallet’s recommendation is as follows: retransfer the funds to other wallets via Stellar account viewer and wait for the problem to be resolved.
