January 5, 2018
Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced that it will temporarly disable the registration of new users. According to the statement made by the exchange, these measures were taken 'due to the overwhelming surge in popularity' and it had to disable registrations 'to allow for an insfrastructure upgrade'.
The statement appears when one click on the registration section.
It is worthy to recall that recently some other crypto exchanges such as Bitfinex, Bittrex and Cex.io also disabled the registration of new users because of the same reasons as Binance. However, according to a representative of another exchange, Kraken, these crypto exchanges will face even more difficulties as a result of these decisions.
According to Coinmarketcap, Binance at the moment is the largest crypto exchange by trading volumes. Since the launch of the exchange in July 2017, the total amount of its users is approaching 3 million.
