"The leader of the Rungsted team, Nikolaj Rosenthal, is a pioneer of the transition from the traditional payment system in Danish kroner and will become the first professional sportsman to receive wages a hundred per cent in bitcoins, paving the way for a similar kind of payment for other people, not just athletes," said in a press release.
It is noted that Rosenthal's contract stipulates for insurance in case the cryptocurrency rate collapses.
It is reported that the contract is concluded for a period of 3 years. On December 27, there will be a gala event and a hockey match dedicated to the beginning of cooperation, after which the team's arena will be renamed. Later, it is planned to install crypto cash machines in the arena, as well as placing a huge decoration in the form of Bitcoin in tangible medium of expression.
"This is the first time that a cryptocurrency financial organization will sponsor a professional sports team from the top division of its country," Bitcoin Suisse said in a statement.
