Swedish Central Bank Considering Replacing Krona With Cryptocurrency
September 25, 2017
The population of Sweden is breaking up with cash. For the past 30 years the country has the lowest level of banknote circulation. In 2016 only 15 % of all payments were cash, 85 % were made with credit cards, mobile wallets and other pay ways.
As a result, the existing situation made the financial elite of Sweden think about the fact that the government would switch to the digital currency. Of course, the transition to Bitcoin is a strange choice, because decentralization is its main slogan. That is why the government of Sweden contemplates a possibility of creation of the centralized cryptocurrency e-krona. This cryptocurrency will combine advantages of state money and independent digital currencies. The matter concerns both guaranteed anonymity and control volatility.
