WeChat Messenger Blocks Crypto Media Accounts
August 23, 2018
As the Lanjiner publication says, the Chinese messenger WeChat has suspended works of several cryptocurrency media accounts this Tuesday, August 21.
The number of the unsuspectedly blocked accounts includes Jinse, Deepchain, Huobi News and CoinDaily. Now when visiting them a user can see a message saying that the account was blocked due to users’ complaints of the content they provide.
Currently there are no other details revealed on the issue but the blocking is supposed to be caused by regulations adopted recently in China.
The Temporary Regulations on the Development and Management of Public Information Services for Instant Messaging Tool is a pack of rules that entered in force on August 7 after it was approved by the China’s Cyberspace Administration. The rules state that in order to keep on carrying out their activities media accounts in messengers have to stick to the defined regulations:
“The users of instant messaging tools serving in public information service activities shall abide by relevant laws and regulations. For instant messaging service users who violate the agreement, the instant messaging service provider shall take measures such as warning, restriction, suspension, and closure until the account is closed, meanwhile saving the relevant records and fulfilling the obligation to report to the relevant authority”.
In addition, in March this year China’s governmental publication subjected to criticism local crypto media saying that they may help in manipulating global digital currency market.
