Beijing Bans Crypto Events
August 22, 2018
The Beijing's Chaoyang district authorities have legally banned holding public events involving digital currencies (like hotels, offices, etc).
The measure was taken with the purpose to secure citizens’ assets as well as eliminate risks of money laundering which would stabilize the city’s financial system.
Regional financial regulator has claimed:
“We now order every shopping mall, restaurant, hotel and official building not to provide venues for any events that promotes or talks about cryptocurrency, and must report to the authority if such activities were found”.
Today the ban is applicable to the Chaoyang district only while authorities of other districts of the city haven’t taken any steps of that kind.
