Catalonian Government to Draft Blockchain Adoption Plan

According to the official press release, the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) has revealed its plans to adopt blockchain in its public administrative activity.
The Generalitat de Catalunya, official governmental body of the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, will develop blockchain with the view to improve digital services for public and promote the technology among administration, companies and citizens.
According to the media release, the Catalonia’s Department of Digital Policies is to elaborate a plan to integrate blockchain in all branches of governmental activities by the end of 2018.
The strategy of the department that will be formulated by the interinstitutional work group is aimed at “knowledge, training and the creation of talent in the field of 'blockchain” as well as defining scopes for the maximum potential of the technology and its economic value.
Spain is already using crypto technology in various industries. In May Barcelona Tech City declared creating specialized space for developing this technology while Spain-based headquarter of Santander bank became the first global company which used blockchain in investor voting.
